WHY AND HOW JANNIK SINNER LOST AND WON THE FO & WIMBLEDON TITLE THIS YEAR.?
FO 2025 : Sinner Serving for the Championship at 5-4 in the 4th Set :
In the finals at ROLAND-GARROS in early June, while serving for the Championship at 5-4 in the 4th Set, Jannik Sinner got ONLY one of his first serves in the service box. In that game, Sinner committed three unforced errors and Alcaraz made one winner on a net-volley.
That allowed Carlos Alcaraz to get back into the match by levelling it 5-5, and from there he went on to win his second French Open title.
The World No.1 Sinner must have been very sure in his mind that he lost a chance to win the FO title for the first time in his career only due to his own fault.
Now, compare that with what Jannik did when he was serving with the same score to win the Wimbledon title on July 13, just five weeks later;
Wimbledon 2025 : Sinner Serving for the Championship at 5-4 in the 4th Set :
Three quick first serves, all on target that helped him to go 40-0 up.!
First point started with a serve at 128 mph, out wide to the forehand side of Carlos. It resulted in a rather long rally of 16 baseline exchanges in total, and ended when Carlos hit a cross-court forehand wide. Score : 15-0
Another fast serve at 133 mph, this time wide to the backhand of Alcaraz. The Spaniard made an angled cross-court return and the advancing Jannik struck a clean backhand down the line winner. Score : 30-0
Again, an out wide serve at 126 mph to the forehand of Alcaraz. Third stroke from Jannik was a cross-court net volley which almost touched the sideline. The Spaniard managed to chase it and put it back on court for Sinner to make a backhand net volley to the left corner of the court. The very quick Spaniard ran after it too, but couldn’t touch the ball. Score :40-0
With three Championship points on his racquet, though Sinner lost the first, he won the match in great style by firing the FASTEST serve of the match at 137 mph near the “T” that kissed the service line disturbing the chalk powder! All that Alcaraz could do was to get a tip of his racquet to it on the backhand. What a finish that was for Jannik to win his first ever Wimbledon, that too against the two-time reigning Champion there❤️💪
Jannik is a BRILLIANT player. He learned his lessons very fast. If fit, he will surely be there to challenge Alcaraz in every BIG tournament from here for years to come👍
